Zagreb beats Sinj
Last Saturday, we hosted the reigning champions, RK Sinj, and secured a decisive 48:0 (19:0) victory. Although the final score might suggest an easy match, this win was the result of maximum concentration and an aggressive approach from the very first minute, allowing us to effectively counter our opponents' greatest strengths.
We opened the game strong, and after ten minutes of sustained pressure, Vukovac found a gap in Sinj’s defense to make it 5:0. We continued to build our play through the scrum and lineout, which resulted in more points in the 16th minute - Livaić scored a try, and Vranešević successfully converted for 12:0. We didn’t let up on defense for the rest of the half, and in the 36th minute, Debeljak crossed the line for 19:0, followed by another precise conversion from Vranešević.
In the second half, we maintained the same level of defensive focus and offensive discipline. Vranešević opened the scoring in the second period with a penalty kick in the 42nd minute for 22:0, after which Duthion-Gorse scored in the 52nd minute, with Vranešević converting again for 29:0. We kept the pressure on until the end; in the 64th minute, Šojić increased the lead to 36:0 with Vranešević’s help, before Vranešević himself closed out the match in the 68th minute with a try and a conversion for a final score of 48:0. A result like this against a team of Sinj’s caliber confirms our good form and quality preparation for this derby. We would like to thank the visitors for a fair and hard-fought match.
Special congratulations go to the entire team for the grit and discipline they displayed throughout all 80 minutes, not allowing the opponent a single point. Great credit also goes to our coaching staff, who prepared the team excellently and responded tactically to all the challenges a match against the champions brings. This result is the fruit of hard work at training and the unity of the entire club, giving us a strong tailwind for the rest of the season. Well done boys, keep it up!
Bab Šik!
