Zagreb loses to Mladost in tough conditions

In difficult conditions and in their final match before the winter break, Zagreb’s rugby team unfortunately suffered a defeat in the city derby against Mladost, losing 22-12 (10-0). With this away victory, Mladost has moved into first place ahead of Sinj, while Rugby Club Zagreb remains on 10 points going into the winter break.
The match on a heavy pitch began with the visitors taking the lead. Mladost went ahead early thanks to Buljanović, who converted a penalty kick for 3-0. In the 16th minute, Jurišić crossed the try line, and Buljanović successfully added the conversion for 10-0, which remained the score at halftime.
Immediately at the start of the second half, Zagreb responded and got back into the game. In the 45th minute, Kostić scored a try, and Vranešević converted to reduce the gap to just three points, 7-10.
However, Mladost quickly regained control. Oxenham scored his first try in the 49th minute to make it 7-15. Just six minutes later, in the 55th minute, Oxenham scored again, and Buljanović converted to extend the lead to 7-22.
Towards the end of the match, Zagreb managed to cross the try line once more. Kellet scored in the 76th minute, setting the final score at 12-22.
Despite the loss, Rugby Club Zagreb must acknowledge that they have been fighting tooth and nail in every match this season. These narrow results show how evenly matched the teams are, with games being decided by small details and each one could have easily turned in our favour.
The team now heads into the winter break with 10 points. This period should be used to recover physically and prepare tactically. The championship is far from decided; with a strong performance in the spring and key victories, the Lions still have a very realistic chance of competing for the title!
