Zagreb goes to away game in Makarska
City Sports Center, Makarska | February 21, 2026
After the dust settled on last week’s win against Sinj, our rugby players have had little time for celebration. That big win filled the locker room with confidence, but the calendar brings a new test: an away match against RK Makarska.
A Fortress Hard to Conquer
This season, Makarska is playing a brand of rugby that leaves no one indifferent. Their results are no fluke; they are the product of exceptionally tough and disciplined play. They have fought "tooth and nail" in almost every match this season, showcasing an incredible competitive spirit-especially in front of their home crowd.
The victory against Sinj clearly showed that our team possesses the necessary quality and winning character. However, to return from Makarska with the win, we will need to replicate, or even elevate, our level of aggression. In a clash against a team that dominates in close-quarters contact, strict possession control with a minimum of errors and turnovers will be crucial. Given that we expect an extremely high-intensity match with plenty of heavy collisions, our physical conditioning will be put to the ultimate test. Ultimately, alongside strength and tactics, the deciding factor will be mental toughness. Our boys must withstand the pressure from the home fans and maintain focus on the game plan for the full 80 minutes, as every second of lapse in Makarska can be punished.
Good luck to the boys in Makarska! May your hearts stay on the field and your heads stay cool in every scrum and contact.
Bab Šik!
