U-18 Team Wins the Croatian Rugby Cup
SC Ivan Poljak Sokol – Andrija Alčić, Sinj | 30. november 2025.
In the match that decided who would lift the Croatian Cup, Zagreb showcased power, squad depth, and a devastating attacking game in Sinj, convincingly defeating the hosts in one of the most high-scoring performances of the season. From the very first minute, it was clear that Zagreb had come for one thing - victory, and a dominant one.
A Perfect Start - Leo Opens the Match
The match could not have started better for Zagreb. After receiving the opening kick, the players strung together 6–7 quick phases, pushing the ball all the way to the try line. Then Leo Rudnićki sliced brilliantly through the defense to score the opening points of the day.
Just two minutes later - another try! Once again, Zagreb fielded the kick cleanly, broke through the defensive line for about 30 meters, shifted the ball accurately through the hands, played one short phase to the right, and Leo, brave and explosive, finished off the action. Zagreb leads 2-0 in tries, and the tempo is only increasing!
A series of tries and relentless pressure
Sinj responded with a try of their own, but Zagreb immediately reasserted control. After 5-6 strong phases, Ivano Šojić spotted a gap in the defense and scored the first of his five tries. Moments later - another one! Sinj’s defense simply couldn’t handle Zagreb’s pace and power in contact.
Sinj returned into the game via a penalty to 5 meters out, set up a maul, and managed to score. But that was their last serious moment in the match.
Zagreb’s Spark and Sinj’s Collapse
Zagreb answered with two tries from Mihael Jeleč, who made perfect use of the fast ball and the widening gaps in a tiring defense. After just two phases, Ivano once again slipped past the line and finished the move for another score.
The second half brought a complete collapse for Sinj. The hosts faded physically, struggled to cover the width, and Zagreb punished every weakness ruthlessly. Fluid, fast, and precise, our boys kept the scoreboard ticking until the final whistle.
This was a performance in which Zagreb demonstrated everything that makes them a contender for the very top of Croatian rugby - depth, creativity, forward power, and lethal finishing.
The team showed character, cohesion, and a hunger for victory. If they continue playing like this, it will be extremely difficult to find a defense in Croatia capable of stopping them.
Well done, boys — well done to the coaching staff!
Bab Šik!
